A framework for teaching academic and Common Core vocabulary

We have developed a research based approach for teaching vocabulary critical to academic success.  Our approach combines direct, explicit teaching practices with the brain rules for learning.  Emphasized is the hear it, see it, say it, do it approach.  Our program will ensure students learn critical vocabulary using distributed practice and meaningful engagement opportunities through center activities.  We have also developed Common Core aligned vocabulary progress monitoring probes.

Now available is our Systematic Vocabulary Instruction program for ELA and Math, available in Grades K-12. This program includes:

1. Academic Vocabulary terms by grade and subject K-12

2. Common Core Vocabulary words, with kid friendly definitions and the standards they are connected to.

3. PowerPoint Slides with concrete, visual representation for each word:  Over 2300 Math Slides; Over 2900 ELA Slides

4. Vocabulary Teaching Template – the teacher’s guide to ensure hear it, see it, say it, do it.
